Guide to Wearing a Thong

thongsFor something made out of little material, the reputation of a thong brings much to the imagination of everyone.  Never had a single piece of cloth carried such stigma or secrecy as thongs do.  Though the popular consensus is that thongs are generally uncomfortable, some women don’t see it that way, which is probably why they’re still widely available.  Here are some tips for picking out the right thong for you:

• Look for a thong that’s simple and comfortable. Avoid lace this time (it can be itchy). Instead, look for a nice plain cotton thong or a seamless microfiber one.

• Bring it home. Don’t try a thong for the first time in an unfamiliar place, as this could make you self-conscious. Wear it for an hour or so then take it off, the next day, wear it for 3 hours. Eventually, you’ll work up to wearing it for an entire day.

• Open to expose the interior with leg holes open, and lay it on your floor, with the bum strap pointing towards you (as it would go on your body)

• Step into the leg holes and pull them up.

• Adjust the front side until it is at a comfortable height and pull up the backside until the bum strap lays flat against your backside.

• The tricky part is to get used to the fact that part of the underwear will be wedged between your cheeks. It should not feel tight and cutting, but lay smoothly.

• Buy more thongs to wear for each day of the week.

• After a month or so of wearing thongs every day, you will become so comfortable with your thong and no other style of underpants will do.

The Lacy History of Lingerie

The Lacy History of LingerieLingerie is a term for women’s fashion undergarments and comes from the French word ‘lin’ for linen. While the term in the French language applies to all undergarments for either gender, in English it is applied only to those women’s undergarments designed to be erotic.

Lingerie being visually appealing is a recent trend. Up through the first part of the 20th century women selected underwear for three major purposes: to alter their shape, for reasons of hygiene, or for modesty. Women’s underwear was often very large and bulky. As the 20th century progressed, underwear became smaller and form-fitting. In the 60’s lingerie manufacturers such as Frederick’s of Hollywood begin to glamorize bras and its sexual appeal began to develop.

The lingerie industry has expanded in the 21st century with designs that double as outerwear. The French refer to this as ‘dessous-dessus’ which basically means innerwear as outerwear.
